Anybody have any experience with ceramic particle embedded window tint films? Specifically this stuff.
I was wondering how their best reduction claim stacks up against the regular window tint films. Is it worth the extra expense? Or is it just marketing BS?

I don’t have much experience except for when I got tint put on my car, the place I went to was a 3M shop and they had this comparison demo thing between the regular 3M Color Stable film and the 3M Crystalline. It was a big bright hot light that you shined thru different piece of glass with the different films on them. The glass with the crystalline films definitely stayed cooler but I didn’t spend the extra money.
I have 50% tint on all my windows except my windshield. I thought about putting 90% crystalline on the windshield to help with heat rejection, but I have a garage at work so my car’s just not parked baking out in the sun for extended periods of time all that often.

How much was the cost difference between the normal and the heat rejection films (if you can remember) ?

The last three cars, make that 4, I went with ceramic tint. It wasn’t much more in the grand scheme, and it does keep the heat out. I was mainly going for no interference with the key fobs. And it delivers. It was $400 vs $250, or so, but again, in the long run, not much difference.

This was 3 years ago and while I have the receipt from my tint, I don’t remember exactly how much more it was for crystalline. I paid $350 for 5 windows with 3M Color Stable + $125 to remove the crappy old tint that was on 3 windows when I bought the car. I want to say the crystalline was maybe 75% more than Color Stable and since I had to pay to remove the old tint I didn’t want to pop for even more cost.
Personally I’m not a dark tint fan but I do like how 50% cleans up the looks of a car while keeping the people inside visible. I don’t like to drive a car where I can’t be seen from outside, that’s asking to be pulled over. If you’re going with darker tint, even non-crystalline at least helps with heat rejection. I do think even if you don’t go for crystalline on your main tint, something in the range of 75-90% crystalline on the windshield is a good idea to help with heat .
